Diocesan Museum

The Diocesan Museum is one of the most important in Tuscany. It includes rich collections of famous works of art, interesting exhibitions, among which are some masterpieces of the 14th and 15th-century Italian painting, of the goldsmith's art and of the textile art. The museum was founded in 1945 and is set in the old church of Gesù. The precious canvasses and tablets' date back to the 13th century, and the visitor can also admire detached frescos, sculptures and liturgical fittings coming from the churches of Cortona and from its old diocese.

The Museum of the Etruscan Academy

The Museum of the Etruscan Academy

The Museum of the Etruscan Academy occupies the historic Palazzo Casali, built in the 13th century. The three Cortonese brothers, Marcello, Ridolfino and Filippo Venuti, who founded the Etruscan Academy, gathered in a rich archaeological collection and an important library, which can now be seen here.

Farneta Museum

This splendid museum consists of two sections. The archaeological collection shows a Roman tomb, three Etruscan travertine urns, a holy-water stoup and several Roman sculptures, all worth to be seen. The other section is devoted to paleontology with fossil remains of Pliocene fauna.
